Hi. I'm J. Walman and today the focus is on travel. Anguilla is a small British dependency located at the northern end of the Caribbean Leeward Islands, supports some of the finest restaurants in the Caribbean. Not-to-be-missed fine-dining venues include Hibernia, whose charming Irish-born wife and French chef-owners serve such world-class dishes on an open veranda as fabulous smoked Caribbean seafood, pan-grilled lobster medallions in a haunting , cream of celery and star anise sauce and award-winning desserts. For the ultimate charm, KoalKeel, located in a former cotton plantation, dating back to the 1700's, has an extraordinary wine cellar, authentic French bakery for breakfast and a kitchen that produces such fare as foie gras, wrapped in savoy cabbage and some of the best grilled crayfish on the island; here is what is arguably Anguilla's best service. Ici, in the Anguilla Sonesta Resort, serves superb pumpkin soup, spiny lobster and rack of lamb. Silly Cay is a charming island reached by boat , serving this jaded New Yorker's most soulful-repast: barbecued chicken, lobster or crayfish, pasta salad, and terrific bread, all prepared on an open fire and orchestrated by an owner with a winning personality. Straw Hat is owned by a young American and feels very NYC with its Asian/Caribbean fusion food and casual-fun atmosphere and Casablanca, the main restaurant of the Sonesta Anguilla Resort, serves a fabulous buffet breakfast and a gourmet dinner that equals any restaurant on the island: witness the shellfish pepperpot for two and the fabulous chocolate desserts, all prepared by Sonesta's first female-chef. So forget your waistline and swim-first, dine-after on Anguilla, that's A Plus on my Travel & Restaurant Report Card. I'm J. Walman and all my reviews are available on the "Internet ."
