Now may be the perfect time to start planning
your trip to Austria.  The Austrian National
Tourist Office, Lufthansa German Airlines,
and MCI Telecommunications have teamed up to
present a three-year promotional campaign
called "AUSTRIA'S IMPERIAL CITIES."

Located in the middle of eight European
countries, the Imperial Cities of Austria are
Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Graz, Linz, and
Klagenfurt.  Vienna, the hub of European
tourism, has music, architecture, and culture
that will afford you the perfect Old World
vacation.  Travel along the famous Danube to
Linz where you can visit the nation's most
modern city.  Or you may prefer what has
become known as the "Secret Austria"--Graz
with its breath-taking countryside and
Klagenfurt fondly referred to as the
"Austrian Riviera."  In Alpine Austria you
can enjoy the winter sports offered by the
majestic mountains and beautiful waterfalls
of Innsbruck.  In the Salzburg Region you
will see castles, palaces, and churches
amidst a glorious background of nature at its
finest.  

In each city the heritage of the Habsburg
dynasty has been preserved so that visitors

held at the Macklowe Hotel in New York City
on April 26th.  Media personnel were invited
to embark on a travel venture where each of
the six cities were represented.  An Austrian
dinner, complete with musicians, singers, and
magicians, gave everyone a true taste of
Austria.

At the media event it was announced that an
advertising campaign would begin in March. 
You will see advertisements in leading travel
and lifestyles publications, and you will be
hearing classical musical performances from
Austria on public and commercial radio

interested with a special "AUSTRIA'S IMPERIAL
CITIES" Travel Kit.  

Lufthansa's Vacation World will be featuring
value-packed travel packages to each of the
Imperial Cities.  Packages with prices
beginning at a low $679 per person will
include round-trip air fare and a three-night
hotel accommodation with breakfast. 
Lufthansa has also created a travel video,
"Austria for all seasons," available for
$9.95 plus shipping.  Viewers will get a 30-
minute tour of Austria and a coupon good for
$100-per-person discounts on many Vacation
World packages.  

MCI Telecommunications will be keeping you
connected to the United States.  Travelers to
Austria will receive up to $20 of free
international calls using WorldPhone when
they sign up for the MCI Card.

DER Tours will also have special packages to
the Imperial Cities.  Travelers can
participate in the "Go As You Please" hotel
voucher program where they can prepay for
accommodations and make reservations as they
travel.  Two-night city packages are
available, as well as the popular "Austrian
