Business Traveler International Names Winners On November 29, Business Travler International Magazine announced the winners in its sixth annual Travel industry survey at a gala luncheon at New York's Plaza hotel. Awards were given out by globe-trotting suspense author, Ken Follett, who admitted to writing some of his best sex scenes on plane trips. Winning airlines for overall performance included British Airways (Best Transatantic), American (Best Domestic), and Singapore (Best International). British Airways also topped the list in Best Business Class for International. Wine service (note: there were no specific categories for cuisine aloft) awards went to SAS, Continental, and Aer Lingus. Hyatt International garnered Best International Chain, while (surprise, surprise) The Plaza came in as the Best in North America. Other categories included Best City (London) and Best Car Rental (Hertz). Award winners are selected through a Simmons Research reader survey, and the results are published in this month's magazine. The luncheon program also cited the many industry sponsors of the Magazine's auction for The National Theatre Workshop of The Handicapped. Auction travel prizes have been donated by major airlines, hotels, and other types of leisure companies to the amount of $250,000.
