THE ART OF THE SYMPHONY: CRYSTAL CRUISES Event Program New York Public Library Celeste Bartos Forum May 23, 1994 You can start counting down. In the elegant Celeste Bartos Forum of the New York Public Library, Crystal Cruises presented a preview of their newest luxury liner, CRYSTAL SYMPHONY. The SYMPHONY's maiden voyage is scheduled for May 1995 and, by all indications, appears to be even more magnificent than its sister ship, Crystal Harmony. Several exhibits were on display throughout the room depicting plans for the liner's destinations, entertainment, dining, accommodations, health & fitness and other services, as well as decor and a model of the ship itself. The photography, "A Crystal Symphony," by Ted Axelrod was an array of musically-themed location shots taken on board the Harmony. "The Art of the Symphony," live piano selections, provided the background music for the event. Participants enjoyed a sumptuous luncheon and viewed the newest video from Crystal Cruises. The progress of this successful high-end cruise line is worth tracking. The Crystal Harmony is currently the largest luxury liner. With the launching of the SYMPHONY, Crystal Cruises will be breaking its own record with a total of 1,920 beds. There will be eight guest decks with 480 staterooms, all of which will feature private verandas (almost 60%) or large picture windows instead of portholes in every room. Ports of call will include Alaska, China, Asia, and Australia/New Zealand. The cruises are booked exclusively through professional travel agents. At an estimated cost of $250 million, Crystal Cruises makes no secret of its intentions. Taking advice from their guests, the media, and travel agents, all efforts are geared toward making the SYMPHONY a prominent luxury liner, a cruise line that not only meets your every request in an indulgent manner but also anticipates your needs before you realize you have them. They must be doing something right--in their fourth year an unprecedented one-third of their reservations are from return guests. It will be interesting to watch Crystal Cruises improve such blatant success, so let the SYMPHONY begin! - Laurie Lawson-
