NEW YORK-NEW YORK HOTEL & CASINO

How do you get to "The Greatest City in Las Vegas?" As soon as you spot the Manhattan skyline, go over the Brooklyn Bridge. If you don't stop for a quick (up to 65 m.p.h.!) ride on the Coney Island-styled roller coaster, you should soon be entering the 84,000-square-foot casino areas. Confused? Well, MGM Grand and Primadonna Resorts have decided that the two cities that never sleep should share their successes.
At a gala event in the Bryant Park Grill in New York City on August 7th, CEO William J. Sherlock announced the upcoming opening of NEW YORK-NEW YORK HOTEL & CASINO. The $460 million entertainment complex will be the tallest hotel/casino in Las Vegas, with 2,035 hotel rooms and suites. There will be 12 skyscraper hotel towers modeled after New York City landmarks, including the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the AT&T Building, and the Seagram's Building. On the outside visitors will find a 150-foot replica of the Statue of Liberty, a 300-foot-long replica of the Brooklyn Bridge, and a Coney Island Cyclone-styled roller coaster that will whirl around the entire site at breath-taking speeds.
Inside promises to hold just as many New York City fascinations. The casino area will use Central Park as its design foundation, complete with trees, streams, and ponds. Cashier cages will be located in the Wall Street-like Financial District, and viewing areas fashioned after Penn Station and Grand Central Station overlook the playing area. Park Avenue will promote upscale shopping; Times Square will beloaded with entertainment thrills; Little Italy will transport you to a typical residential neighborhood; and Gourmet Street will assure that those seeking bagels, egg creams, and other New York favorites are supremely satisfied.
Add all this to 75 gaming tables, more than 2,400 state-of-the-art slot machines, a Race and Sports Book area featuring racing via telecasts throughout the United States, and a 1,000-seat theatre with productions by celebrated producers like Kenneth Feld, and even the most ardent New Yorker may have trouble departing from NEW YORK-NEW YORK HOTEL & CASINO. Slated to open late 1996/early 1997, Las Vegas is already anxiously anticipating The Greatest City in Las Vegas.
