New tourism office opens in Stockholm
With 30,000 islands making up the archipelago, it can be difficult to select just a few to visit. A new group, Visit Skärgården (archipelago), is opening a tourist office on Strandvägen in Stockholm. Housed at a former Shell Gas station on Strandvägen, the office is called Skärgårdsfönstret (Window to the Archipelago) and includes a tourist office, café, taxi boat office, archipelago travel agency, lounge, harbor for chartered boats and conference area.
Bike through Stockholm in seven languages Swedes love their bikes and they bring them out in full force during spring. A new company, Bike Hike is offering guided bike tours on Djurgården in seven languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish. The three-hour tour introduces bikers to Stockholm’s history with stops at the Vasa Museum, Prince Eugene’s residence Waldemarsudde and the Rosendal Palace. Sixty-six bicycle stands with 800 cycles for rent can be found throughout the city and can be rented for a three-day period for 125 SEK.
